Holster
A 0.08'' Kydex shell molded for the Bul Armory Axe FS Hatchet. Optics ready, with an open muzzle for threaded barrels. Two thumb screws on the shell set the retention by hand, no tools needed.
The shell mounts to an aluminum plate with two Phillips screws and binding posts, which also set the ride height and angle. An aluminum thigh bumper on the bottom of the belt attachment rests against your leg and keeps the holster steady.
The belt attachment fits 1.5'' to 1.75'' belts at least 6mm thick, so it holds tight on the 9mm outer belt in this rig. Three 2.5mm Allen screws on the front open it to go on the belt.
Belt
A two-piece hook and loop belt, 1.5'' wide. The 5mm inner belt stays in your pant loops. The 9mm outer belt carries your gear and locks onto the inner belt.
Belt sizes go by your waist measurement, not your pant size. Check the Size guide before you order.
Magazine pouches
Each pouch fits 9mm and .40 S&W double stack magazines, and .45 ACP single stack magazines with the included spacers. It has 360 degree cant and pivot, 2'' of ride height adjustment, and two screws to set how tightly it holds the magazine.
The pouches ship set up for double stack magazines. Single stack setup is covered in the Setup instructions.
Setup takes a 2.5mm Allen key and a Phillips screwdriver for the holster, and 5mm and 2mm Allen keys for the pouches (not included).
Made for IPSC and USPSA competition.
The holster and mag pouches are made in the USA. The belt is made in Taiwan.
Measure your waist where you'll wear the belt. Run a soft tape measure around your body over your pants, snug but not tight.
Add 9'' to that number. The extra 9'' is the overlap, where the outer belt's hook and loop grips the inner belt. With less than 9'' of contact the belt won't hold securely.
Pick the size whose overall length is equal to or just longer than your total. Example: a 36'' waist plus 9'' is 45'', so you need a Large (46.5'').
- Small: 38.5'' (97.8 cm) overall, fits a waist up to 29.5'' (75 cm)
- Medium: 43'' (109.2 cm) overall, fits a waist up to 34'' (86.4 cm)
- Large: 46.5'' (118.1 cm) overall, fits a waist up to 37.5'' (95.3 cm)
- X-Large: 50'' (127 cm) overall, fits a waist up to 41'' (104.1 cm)
- XX-Large: 54'' (137.2 cm) overall, fits a waist up to 45'' (114.3 cm)
Between two sizes? Go up. Extra overlap means more hook and loop contact, which holds better. A belt that's too short won't stay closed.
- Flip the inner belt. It ships inside out. Turn it so the fuzzy side faces out, then thread it through your pant loops. If the fuzzy side faces in, the outer belt has nothing to grip.
- Set up the mag pouches before they go on the belt. They ship set up for double stack magazines. For single stack 1911 magazines, take out the thumb screw (top right, by hand) and the retention screw (bottom left, 2mm Allen key), swap in the thinner spacers from the included bag, and put both screws back in.
- Mount the mag pouches. Loosen the 5mm Allen screw on the pouch (it sets the ride height and angle) so you can reach the four 2mm screws on the belt attachment. Loosen the four 2mm screws to open up the attachment, fit it on the belt, and tighten them back down.
- Mount the holster. Loosen the three 2.5mm Allen screws on the front of the holster's belt attachment to open it. Fit it on the outer belt and tighten the three screws. On a 1.75'' belt, take out the tab while the attachment is open. The belt has to be at least 6mm thick for the attachment to hold without moving (the outer belt in this rig is 9mm).
- Layout. Put the holster on your right hip. Line the four mag pouches up on the left side. Check your division's equipment rules before a match.
- Adjust the holster. With an unloaded pistol, loosen the two Phillips screws that hold the shell to the aluminum plate, set the ride height and angle, and tighten them again. Then set the retention with the two thumb screws on the shell, by hand. Tighter holds the pistol more securely while you move. Looser lets it draw with less effort.
- Adjust the mag pouches. Set each pouch's angle and ride height, then tighten the 5mm screw. Then set how tightly each pouch holds the magazine with its two retention screws: turn the top thumb screw by hand, and the bottom screw with a 2mm Allen key. Tighter holds the magazine more securely while you move. Looser lets it come out with less effort.
- Lock the screws. Once everything is where you want it, put a drop of removable (medium strength) thread locker on every screw: the mag pouch screws and all the holster screws (belt attachment, plate, thigh bumper and the two Phillips screws). Don't use a permanent thread locker, because it can seize the screws so they won't come out. Check every screw before you shoot.
- Put it on. Wrap the outer belt over the inner belt and press it down so the hook and loop lock together. Close the end with the belt keeper.
